MUSIC Education in US - Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH)


MUSIC 

Essentials: MUS 20 (unless exempted by an evaluation of 5 on the AP Music Theory exam or by a proportionate exam regulated by the Music Department) and MUS 25 (unless exempted by an identical exam controlled by the Music Department). 

Prerequisites: General music major 

Two courses numbered somewhere around 20 and 29 selective of the essentials (hypothesis) 

One course numbered somewhere around 40 and 49 (time, place, and culture) 

Seven extra courses, of which five or more must be numbered 21 or above, and including: a) no less than one course in the Individual Instruction Program (MUS 53–58), b) one course in the Performance Laboratories (MUS 50), and c) one course that speaks to the Non-­‐Western Cultures classification inside of the World Cultures Requirement (these courses include: MUS 4; MUS 45; MUS 50, area 4; and MUS 51). MUS 1 and MUS 7 may not be utilized to satisfy the elective prerequisite. (MUS 45 may be utilized to satisfy 2 above; and MUS 50, segment 4, and MUS 51 may be utilized to satisfy 3c above.) 

Coming full circle Experience: interest in the Department of Music's coming full circle experience project amid the senior year. 

Exhibit of capability on console instruments either by enlisting in MUS 53 (singular piano lessons) or by passing a console capability exam regulated by the division. Understudies taking the console capability exam must do as such no later than the spring term of their third year. 

The course pathways recorded underneath additionally satisfy the necessities for the general music major. They are offered as recommendations for understudies who wish to focus their musical studies in a specific region. 

MAJOR WITH A CONCENTRATION ON COMPOSITION & SONIC ARTS 

Understudies who take after this pathway will concentrate on picking up the fundamental abilities for making music in contemporary styles. 

MUS 2 or MUS 8
